What this method does

Vue After Free 2.0 uses the old PlayStation Vue app as the entry point for a PS4 exploit chain. Once it is prepared correctly, the console can launch the exploit flow from the Vue app and then run a payload such as GoldenHEN.

This is not permanent custom firmware. If the PS4 fully shuts down, the exploit environment is gone and you need to launch it again. Rest mode can help keep the current session alive, but it is still a temporary jailbreak.

Important legal and safety note

Use this information only on a PlayStation 4 you own, for legal homebrew, repair, research, backups of your own content and preservation. MediaBoxEnt does not provide game download links, piracy sources or help bypassing licenses.

Before you start

There is always risk. A wrong step, bad drive, corrupt image, forced update or interrupted process can break the setup or leave the console in a bad state.

Do not update your PS4 if your firmware is below the newest public system software and you want to keep compatibility. Sony's current public PS4 update page should be checked before you do anything.

Firmware reality check

Vue After Free's repository lists userland support up to 13.04, with tested jailbreak support through 13.00. Sony has since published newer PS4 system software, so consoles on 13.50 or later should be treated as not compatible with this workflow unless the project updates its support notes.

03

Requirements

FWA PS4 on a compatible firmware, ideally below 13.00 for the current tested jailbreak path.
IDA real or fake activated PS4 user profile. If the profile never connected or was never activated, the save-data path can fail.
VuePlayStation Vue base 1.01 with patch 1.24 prepared for this method.
USBA USB HDD/SSD/flash drive of at least 256GB, with 300GB or larger recommended.
PC7-Zip, Balena Etcher, the Vue After Free package, GoldenHEN payload and a way to resign the save.
04

Console preparation

  1. 1. Check the firmware first.

On the PS4, go to Settings, System, then System Information. If the console is already on a patched version, stop and follow the project notes before trying anything.

  2. 2. Turn off automatic updates.

Disable system and application auto-downloads so the console does not silently move to a newer firmware or update the Vue app past the required version.

  3. 3. Use DNS carefully.

The video uses custom DNS values to block unwanted updates during preparation, then changes DNS again when internet access is needed for the exploit flow. Only use the exact values from the video/source you trust.

  4. 4. Confirm Vue stays on 1.24.

After installing Vue, open the app information and confirm the version is 1.24. If it updates, the exploit entry point can break.

05

USB drive and save setup

This part is where most of the back-and-forth happens between PC and PS4. The high-level idea is simple: flash the prepared extended-storage image, let the PS4 see Vue, copy the save data, resign it to your profile, then put the resigned files back on the USB drive.

Flash the extended-storage image.

Extract the Vue extended-storage image with 7-Zip, open Balena Etcher, select the image and flash it to the correct USB drive. This erases the drive completely.

Install Vue from the external drive.

Connect the drive to the PS4 and confirm the Vue app appears correctly. Move/copy it to the internal storage so it remains available after the drive is removed.

Format the USB drive again.

Back on Windows, format the same drive as exFAT so it can be used for save data, packages and payload files.

Copy and resign the save.

Run Vue once, copy the Vue save data to USB, read your profile ID from the save folder and use the resign service to rebuild the included save for your account.

06

Launching Vue After Free

After the resigned save is back on the USB drive, add the payload file named in lowercase as required by the release notes. In the video, GoldenHEN is renamed to the expected payload filename before returning to the PS4.

Launch PlayStation Vue, choose the full or lite exploit flow, and wait for the payload to load. When GoldenHEN is active, locked homebrew content should become available again until the console fully powers off.

After GoldenHEN is running

GoldenHEN adds useful tools such as debug settings, package installation, FTP, payload server options, plugin settings and cheat support for compatible games.

Keep the setup clean: avoid PSN sign-in experiments, do not update firmware, do not update Vue past 1.24 and do not ask creators for game download sources.

FAQ

Does this work on every PS4?

No. Firmware, profile activation and the exact Vue setup matter. Consoles on newer patched firmware should not be expected to work.

Is the jailbreak permanent?

No. It is temporary. After a full shutdown you need to run the exploit again.

Can MediaBoxEnt share game download links?

No. Use your own legally owned content and legal homebrew. The article and videos do not provide piracy sources.
